Simple. Intimate. Elegant. Inviting. The sanctuary at Emerson Unitarian/Universalist Church is truly the welcoming place to celebrate your wedding.

Open to all, Emerson Church is the largest facility east of Woodward that will accommodate a couple wishing to be married. With seating for up to 150 guests, you may hold your wedding ceremony on any scale from the smallest to the most lavish.

When you reserve your date with us, you may prefer to have your ceremony conducted by our minister, or you may provide your own. In addition, you may get married at any time, on any day.

Emerson is the only barn church in Michigan, and has recently been redecorated in the serene colors of nature, offering the perfect backdrop for your wedding ceremony. Please feel free to visit us and discover the charm of having your wedding in this beautiful and historic setting.

COMMITMENT CEREMONIES
Many people are looking for ceremonies which express their own personal values and circumstances. We welcome same sex couples or couples wishing to create interfaith ceremonies which can bridge traditions.

RENEWAL VOWS
Celebrate an important anniversary of your wedding with a Renewal Ceremony. It may be a couple wishing to have the wedding they always wanted or desiring to exchange new vows reflective of the maturing of their relationship.

MEMORIAL SERVICES/FUNERALS
Whether a simple or elaborate service, we can focus on your needs to grieve a loss and to celebrate a life.

CHILD DEDICATIONS
Often families want to celebrate a new life, or a new adoption, and to acknowledge the child’s importance to the parents and the community.

AMENITIES
Amenities include an exceptional grand piano. We are proud that the National Piano Guild has held many concerts and recitals here because of the outstanding acoustics. You may provide your own pianist, other musician or soloist, or we can offer you a list of pianists. The comfortable lounge is available for the convenience of the bridal party before and after the ceremony at no extra charge. You may also want to use our large formal candelabra and any flower arrangements of your choice. A glass table is available for your unity candle. Emerson is accessible to all, with an elevator from the parking lot level to the Sanctuary.

Rental of the sanctuary includes use of the lounge, our grand piano and our candles.
