A person expressing interest in membership with Emerson Church Unitarian Universalist must comply with the following procedure:

A) The applicant must attend worship services, coffee hour, social events, and/or work sharing (as able) for a period of 90 days to become acquainted with the Emerson Church community and its diversity and culture.

b) The applicant must meet with the Minister and representatives of the Membership Committee and the Finance Committee in an orientation session that would include some history of Unitarian Universalism and Emerson Church. 

c) The applicant will then signify his or her commitment by signing the membership book in the presence of the Minister and a representative of the Membership Committee in an uninterrupted and dignified setting.  Other interested friends and family are welcome to attend the signing for support and celebration.

At a time designated by the Minister and/or the Worship Committee, there will be a ceremony during a worship service to officially introduce, welcome and honor the new member. 

The Membership Committee has the discretion to waive any part of the orientation process for anyone who has met the criteria for membership through long time association, friendship and participation at Emerson Church.
